LWV seeks cut in size of Massachusetts Legislature
Boston. House Speaker David M Bartley says he will appeal to the state Supreme Court over the Massachusetts League of Women Voters petition to shrink the House from 240 to 160 members. The petition has cleared the legislature once and would go to voters in November if approved again. Bartley questions several technical points, including the use of legal voters versus population and separation of powers in potential redistricting.
