The Bureau of Public Roads aims to clarify the nation’s 95 million licensed drivers, a group over half the population. The Highway Statistics Division released a report to broadcast clearer information about this large driver community.
The 1965 model cars provide the broadest selection of body styles with 343 options, new 16 passenger bodies, and sweeping redesigns across 10 lines. Engines reach a new high of 40 basic types with expanded options, improved breathing, quieter operation, and stronger corrosion resistance. Disc brakes appear on multiple lines, three and four speed transmissions gain ground, and interior comfort and safety features such as larger doors, better ventilation, and keyed lock systems advance.
