Ayres blocks CVPS power line bid with restraining order

Col Fairfax Ayres of Ayres Crossing West Pawlet has halted a CVPS plan to build 13.5 miles of power line from West Pawlet to Dorset by securing a Rutland County Court restraining order. The ruling bars the Bennington Rutland Environmental Commission from deciding the permit while further legal steps proceed. Ayres argues the route endangers his sugarbush and adjoining land, and seeks party status in hearings denied earlier by the commission. The court will reconvene to address Ayres’ petition and potential further hearings on the permit.
