Open open-superintendency petitions circulate

A group calling itself Friends of the Schools forms in the Bennington Southwest Supervisory Union and circulates a petition for an open candidacy for superintendent. The effort, led by Gloria Gil, aims to show broad support across SVSU districts for free competition and to prompt the SVSU board to accept applications and interview candidates rather than select one. The board had supported assistant superintendent George Sleeman, with a vacancy due in May, and a March 15 annual meeting looms.
