Manchester School Board Chairman Eugene V. Kayatta announced the board will restudy the tracing of Manchester student assignments to Granville and South Argyle High Schools after recent tuition increases billed to Manchester by the Granville district.
Legal questions about taking two side roads off Mt View Terrace into the town system seem resolved as Henry Dooley and Mrs Ford Shroder of Dorset offer land for snow turnarounds. Their offer removes the need to use land owned by Elizabeth Johnson, who had an attorney for her interests. Town officials proceed with legal steps to incorporate the roads into the town system.
One winter accident reported by police in Manchester. A Chrysler eight passenger sedan driven by Steven McKenney of Fairfield Connecticut collided with a 1966 Triumph convertible driven by R F Katz of Malvern New York at the Grand Union entrance. Katz vehicle damaged. passenger Phyllis Corcacas of Manchester slightly injured. Tuition increases for Manchester students in New York programs raise to 750 dollars, Burr and Burton Seminary at 574 rising to 615 next year. Manchester clarence comar peter brooks and walker real estate won in three categories of the Christmas Decoration Program jointly by the Garden Club of Manchester and the Greater Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce. First place in house decoration went to Comar, second to Bernice Graham, third to Norman and Robert Cook with honorable mentions to Howard Dufresne and Mrs. Robert Squires. Peter Brooks won doorway decorations, with Joseph Harrington second and Mrs. Jane Palmer third. In commercial entries Walker Real Estate took first, Whipple's Pharmacy second, Dorset Shop third, with Wells Real Estate, Four Winds Motel and Mt. View Diner as honorable mentions. Awards will be presented at the chamber office in Manchester Center after notification.
Manchester The search for a third officer by the Manchester Police Department continues, per Police Chief Dana L. Thompson. Eugene Gaiotti was approved by the Board of Selectmen to fill the spot but later withdrew. The post was created last spring at Thompson’s request, and the search remains active.
