69 Living Costs Rise to Highest Since 1951

The Labor Department reports November consumer prices rose four tenths of a percent, with housing, maintenance, and insurance driving the jump. The retail cost index went from 122.9 to 123.4, equating to $12.34 for a 1957-59 basket and $25.48 compared to 1939 dollars. Arnold Chase foresees December figures pushing the year-over-year increase toward 1951 levels.
