Nature's Ways Maine Back Country Could Be Wilderness
Wayne Hanley argues the Maine back country from Moosehead Lake to the Canadian border deserves wilderness status. He notes existing roads, wildlife like bobcats and mergansers, gray jays, ravens, and crows, and reflects on Route One completion and Roger's Rangers. He concludes true wilderness is vanishing and supports designating northern Maine as wilderness despite inevitable change.
