Trees Cost More As Labor Buoys Christmas Prices

A United Press International survey finds Christmas tree costs up about 10 percent from last year due to higher labor and transportation costs and early winter slowdowns in Canada and New England. Prices vary widely by city with 10-foot Balsams ranging from 5 to 15 dollars, while 3-foot trees cost 0.75 to 7.50 dollars depending on location. Demand remains strong in many markets, and some shoppers can still find bargains late in the season.
