Bennington College moved closer to building a five million visual and performing arts center by applying for a development permit with the Bennington District Environmental Commission. The project, two years behind schedule, is funded through a 1.35 million revenue bond sale arranged with WEBFA and backed by state lease of collateral for 30 years, with design by Robertson Ward and donor-supported Dickinson Science Building and Tishman Lecture Hall. The arts complex will sit northeast of the Barn, include spaces for visual arts and dance, and honor Paul Terence Feeley while naming a Martha Hill dance workshop. The Dec 14 application awaits a public hearing before the commission, with a decision due within 20 days after the hearing window closes.
