Pownal Receives 5763 in Anti-Recession Funds
Pownal town officials learned the federal 5763 anti recession funds under Title II of the Public Works Employment Act of 1976 will be the first of four installments. The money must maintain basic services and may support snow removal if needed. The board took no action on expenditures. Also, a street light was moved to the East Pownal Fire House site and a request to plow Puddingstone Road was approved after crews determined it is town maintained. Town leaders met with the newly formed Pownal American Legion Post, which seeks a youth program and aims to foster good relations with the town.
