Bennington youth group eyes a new teen center

The Bennington Teen Center Advisory Committee formed from the Youth Activities group meets weekly. A public meeting is set for Tuesday at 6 30 pm in the Bennington Recreation Center to discuss upcoming activities and a possible site search for a central location bounded by Union and County streets and Ben Mont Avenue. Kristen Pahnke, Elsie Santway, Nick Gauthier, and Dick Terrenzini lead the site subcommittee. Diane Weber at United Counseling Service invites space offers at 442 5491, with Sandi Jones from Youth Service Bureau as a resource.

Smith attacks Rhodesian talks in Geneva

Rhodesian Premier Ian Smith said the Geneva conference was convened on false pretenses and accused Communists of trying to subvert a peaceful path to black majority rule. He claimed seven weeks of meetings yielded no progress and urged at least a month adjournment so participants “come back to earth.” He argued white Rhodesians expected Kissinger style proposals, but the conference had not begun.

Massachusetts court questions cocaine legality in private use case
