Searchers push on for missing plane from new hub

Five family members aboard a green and white Piper Cherokee vanished last Sunday on a Worcester to Pontiac flight. After five days, CAP in Vermont and Massachusetts National Guard units scoured Berkshire County from Bennington County Airport and North Adams with seven planes and helicopters. Weather improved but no leads emerged as the search shifted from Massachusetts to Vermont and aviation rescue teams coordinated from a new command base.

Weekend fires probe by state fire officials

State fire officials investigate weekend blazes that destroyed a Burlington Ethan Allen Club building a Hardwick three story apartment dwelling and an Elmore home. Firefighters battled the flames. no injuries reported though a club manager and his sons fled after calling in the alarm. An infant was rescued from the Elmore fire.
