Auto dealers blamed for high repair bills and scams
Sen Hart says Americans spend 20 to 25 billion yearly on car repairs while 29 billion goes to new cars as high speed selling boosts profits from servicing. Bennett warns speed increases wear and repair costs, and subcommittee hears dealers push new cars at low profits, relying on shady schemes and “necessary evils” in auto service. Leonard of Hofstra calls auto service a jungle for consumers.

The hijacker wore a gray suit and carried a pistol and grenade, kept the crew at gunpoint, and ordered the plane to refuel at Key West before continuing to Cuba. Cuban authorities allowed the crew to return to Miami with the passengers awaiting a refugee airlift. The hijacker identified as Eddie Cantera, 33, had a history of job loss in the Miami area. Captain James W. Sims, 37, and stewardesses assisted during the tense stopover in Key West.
