Ice ages linked to Earth's orbit says scientists
Washington based researchers Hays Imbrie and Shackleton link past ice ages to variations in Earth's orbit around the sun. Their half million year drill-core study in the South Indian Ocean shows cycles of 100000 41000 and 23000 years affecting climate, predicting renewed glaciation in thousands of years despite possible short term warming from fossil fuels.
