Conservation Group Vows Legal Action on Nuke Issue

The Conservation Society of Southern Vermont says it will initiate legal activity to seek state level review of environmental effects from the Vernon Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corp plant. It may present new expert testimony on ecological risks and debate whether state or federal standards apply, with a Public Service Board hearing in Montpelier possible Tuesday.

Agnew Says Half of Foe In Cambodia Eliminated

Honolulu. Vice President Spiro T. Agnew says more than 50 percent of Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces in Cambodia have been eliminated. He cites South Vietnamese and Cambodian estimates, notes some resupply but lower overall numbers. He reiterates that U.S. troops will not fight in Cambodia unless American forces in South Vietnam are threatened. The visit included plans to report to President Nixon at the Western White House.

Hoff calls for expansion of aid to senior citizens

Democratic former Gov. Philip Hoff urged broad reforms to aid the elderly in a position paper while campaigning for the U S Senate seat.
