Salmon Says Philosophy Blocks Law in AG Race

Bennington Unification Requires Local Police Force

Vermont public safety commissioner Col Edward W Corcoran told Bennington Selectmen that after unification takes effect January 1 1971 the town must provide its own police force as state police stop covering the area. He offered to extend state coverage to July 1 to recruit train and equip the expanded local force.

Police Arrest 3 Youths Here on 4 Drug Charges

Vermont State Police raided Bennington and Woodford on Friday night arresting three youths on four counts. Henry C. Van Orman Jr. 21 of Bennington faces two counts selling heroin, Paul M. Kelly 19 of Bennington one count selling LSD, Martin Anthony Magdalewski 21 of Woodford and Adams Mass one count selling marijuana. Bail set at 5000 per count for Van Orman and 2500 for Magdalewski and Kelly. Arraignment planned Monday. See POT HAUL Page 2.
