Musicmaker's Summer at Bennington College
Bennington College hosts a busy summer with 26 high school students in a national program, 35 New England juniors under NSF, and a crafts fair. The Composers Conference led by Virgil Thomson gathers 28 young composers with scholarships. 25 professional musicians coach chamber ensembles and perform, while the Green Mountain Fiddlers, about 100 Vermont youths, study violin and cello aided by Stanley Eakers. The programs mix modern and classical repertoire, emphasizing hands on learning and parental involvement in students’ musical development.
