Woman instructed to remove most of 18 cats by Nov 26
In North Berkshire a 71 year old woman, Mildred Holmes of Cummington, was found in violation of a town Board of Health order to dispose of most of her 18 cats. Judge Benjamin A. Apkin ordered compliance by November 26 after a 10 minute hearing. She rejected a compromise to keep 8 to 10 cats, saying she loves all of them and doubts the house is unliveable as alleged. She blamed neighbor Richard Wells, who raises chinchillas and may want her property.
