A Mt Anthony Union High School ad hoc committee formed two weeks ago will conduct telephone surveys to collect complaints from directors and community members. They plan to rank issues such as overcrowding, curriculum, and guidance, with a Sept. 9 meeting to compare notes before presenting findings to all member districts.

FBI official calls for warrior class to confront press and bureaucrats

Debates Ground Rules Drafted by Ford Carter Aides

Ford and Carter aides met with the League of Women Voters to outline ground rules for the first presidential debates since 1960. William D. Ruckelshaus and Jody Powell reported progress and scheduled a follow up for Wednesday. The joint communique pledged the debates would serve the public interest.

Snelling rebukes Hackel plan as disaster for Vermont

Montpelier UPI Republican gubernatorial candidate Richard Snelling blasts state Treasurer Stella Hackel's proposal to reorganize state government. He labels the plan a disaster and a fraud, condemns abolishing five co-called superagencies, and questions the idea of replacing them with 20 commissioners plus an executive administrator. He argues the plan dilutes focus on real problems, questions salary cuts, and says the concept ignores proper leadership and accountability of about 7,000 employees. See Snelling on back page.

North Bennington backs mobile home zoning amendments

North Bennington village officials backed changes to the zoning bylaw to enable mobile homes in zones where single family dwellings are allowed and to loosen shoreline restrictions. They endorsed amendments aligning local rules with a new state act, including anchoring requirements and exclusions from Design Control Districts.
