Clarification on teachers pay raises amid wage freeze issued
The Cost of Living Council issued a 700 word clarification indicating many public school teachers could receive higher pay next term under system wide contracts. If any teacher covered by such a contract worked under it before Aug 15, all others under the contract become eligible for the higher rate at the new term. The ruling also allows teachers under individual contracts who performed work before the freeze to get the higher scale, and those eligible to have earned a salary at the new rate prior to Aug 15. This covers 10 month workers paid in 12 monthly installments.
