Arab Refugees Return to Homes in Jordan
A thousand Arab refugees prepared to cross the Jordan River and return to their homes in Israeli-occupied Jordan for the first time since the June 5-10 war. An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 daily crossings were expected after the initial group, with as many as 30,000 Arabs anticipated to return by the deadline. Jordan radio cited 176,000 applications to return to the West Bank, while the refugee agreement, aided by the Red Cross, excludes those who fled after June 14 and excludes criminals and others away from home when war broke out.
