Banchik, already principal of the senior high, cited curriculum improvements and smoother junior senior transition as reasons. One board member opposed citing pace and overlap schedule concerns. The plan adds two assistants at the senior high and hires for junior high, with two general supervisors to be created, costing about 10 000 more than budgeted but fundable this year. Banchik announced a rewritten student handbook focusing on discipline and a new policy to reduce detentions and class cutting, with a smoking area designated outside the cafeteria.
