Anglers Head for Streams As Fishing Season Opens

Vermont opens the 1968 fishing season as the Fish and Game Department stocks over 867000 trout, aiming to reach about 2.25 million by fall. James Stewart notes normal opening conditions but higher water may hinder catches as 370000 brook, 166000 brown, 210000 rainbow, and 121000 lake trout are released at a cost of 120000 dollars. The department plans secrecy on stock locations, leaving anglers to locate the fish themselves.
