MD's Hunch Saves Life Of Brattleboro Soldier
Brattleboro Vermont soldier Pfc Ronald Palmer 20 was saved by an Air Force physician at Clark Air Base after a bullet lodged in his chest. Surgeon Dr James W Zeiders ordered Palmer off a flight when chest pain and fever appeared, preventing the bullet jacket from reaching his heart. Doctors later removed the jacket fragment from Palmer's chest, saving his life on route to Japan.
