Smith's Vermont speech won't deter legislator run again
Rep. William Jay Smith of Pownal told a Bennington College audience that violent reaction to his 18th century Vermont speech will not stop him from seeking the legislature again. The Williams College poet discussed Vermont politics, media coverage, and reapportionment, urging district representation and a two party system while noting scarce legal talent for future sessions.
