Miniature Masterpiece Opens Finals for Vermont High Schools
Six Vermont high schools present one act finalists tonight in Vergennes with Mt. Anthony Union High performing Edward Albee's The Sandbox. Directed by John Carton, the Mt. Anthony cast previously competed at Arlington and Otter Valley, earning a Southern Vermont spot. The Sandbox, Albee's concise 20 minute piece from the 1950s, contrasts family dynamics and social attitudes, with Carton praising its open structure for flexible interpretation.
