New York Lottery Could Expand With More Winners
Albany reports the New York State Lottery may grow to about 6,000 monthly winners. State Tax Commissioner Joseph Murphy said the current 450 winners per month may be too restrictive as Gov. Rockefeller and lawmakers study expansion. First prize would stay at 100,000 with lower prizes possibly 200 or 250 dollars. The state plans 40 million one dollar tickets monthly. Drawings would occur for every 1 million in tickets sold. Under expansion second and third prizes might be reduced from 75,000 and 50,000 and up to 200 winning tickets per drawing.

Area Students to Join Viet Protest Rally in NYC
About 100 Bennington College women are set to march in New York City Saturday to demonstrate against the Vietnam War. From Williams College nearly 120 to 150 students from Williamstown mass plan to join, with Middlebury College and Goddard College also sending participants. An estimated 100,000 protesters will gather in Central Park and march to the United Nations with speeches by Martin Luther King Jr., Benjamin Spock, Stokely Carmichael, among others.
