Samaritan Hospital to Expand and Renovate in 1968
Samaritan Hospital in Troy plans a 6 million expansion raising beds from 232 to 323 and adding a 25 bed psychiatric wing. A 250 bed general care facility will be built on Peoples and Burdett Avenues with new outpatient services. Federal Hill-Harris funds of 1.5 million and 900 thousand for psychiatric facilities, plus depreciation funds, private financing, and an 800 thousand fundraising drive, support the project. The campaign runs from next month through August. The hospital, founded in 1902, last raised a similar amount in 1954.

Senate action plans $7.1 million in state employee raises
The Senate sent to the House a two year bill to spend 7.1 million on state employee pay raises. It raises department heads by 28 thousand dollars and gives 10 percent increases retroactive to January 1 for 4500 classified employees. Department heads and directors will see new salaries on July 1.
