District Court Denies Bail To New Hampshire Man Wells
Robert C. Wells of Nashua appeared with two Windsor State Prison guards in Bennington District Court seeking bail while his appeal is considered by the Vermont Supreme Court. Wells, 23, was sentenced January 31 to 15 to 23 months for leaving the scene of an accident and 30 days for careless driving, to be served concurrently. Bennington officials discuss Globe Union water needs
Raymond B. Bowen of the Bennington County Industrial Corporation told town and village leaders there is no near prospect of large new industry in Bennington yet he urged a moral commitment to supply water for sprinkler systems as Globe Union expands. William H. Morse said a 100000 to 150000 square foot shopping center may rise near the Globe Union plant, with potential requests for water from multiple users including Heald Plastics and the St Johnsbury trucking terminal. Alfred W. Ellett confirmed several sprinkler requests, and engineer Burton Winslow said the Kolles Brooktown project can meet demand if a new line is installed.

Bennington Groups Discuss Town Water Plan
Bennington officials and residents debated using flood control funds to expand a town wide water system. A proposed Town Water Committee would study transmission lines and distribution for a regional approach, with villages retaining local control over distribution.
