Mother of Thresher Skipper Describes Son as Serious
In Philadelphia Lt Cmdr John Wesley Harvey, skipper of the missing nuclear submarine Thresher, is remembered by family as serious and dedicated to the sea. His mother expresses faith in him as ships and planes search the Atlantic after the sub disappeared Wednesday. Harvey, 35, grew up in Philadelphia and rose through the Navy to command the Thresher on January 18.
