Shaftsbury Firehouse Addition Underway With Grant
Work began Monday on Shaftsbury's new firehouse addition. Contractor Jack Heaton of Dorset cut trees as power lines were moved. Inside, firemen removed partitions and a dumbwaiter for the upgrade. The project is funded by a federal EDA grant of 183200, with a 156000 contract and the rest for engineering, auditing, and administration. Edwin A. Colvin, the project manager, drafted plans that won government approval.
