The group oversees the Margaret C Whalen Memorial Fund dedicated to improving the children's book collection, with early generous matching gifts. The room’s history traces to 1829 root cellar origins and a 1958 expansion when juvenile books moved to larger space. key donations from James McCabe and Charles Canfield and help from Mrs Canfield and board members completed the setup.
