U.S. Babylift flight crashes near Saigon killing many
A U S Air Force C5A Galaxy carrying 305 people including 243 orphans bound for the United States crashed near Tan Son Nhut airport during an emergency landing. At least 178 were killed. 100 children and 15 to 20 adults survived. The plane had 44 U S mission escorts and 16 aircrew. The crash halted plans for President Ford to greet orphans in California.

Capriola Faces Four Embezzlement Counts in Vermont
Bennington attorney Charles E. Capriola Jr. 41, already long practiced in Vermont, was charged by the attorney general with four felonies for embezzling funds from Vivian Caron Catherine Smith Jeanette Nardone and the Florence P.
