Medicare patients will pay 50 cents more monthly for Part B coverage starting July 1, raising the premium from 5.80 to 6.30. The annual deductible also rose by 10 dollars to 60 in January, with broad effects expected across Part A hospital and Part B physician coverage.
About 300 seniors will graduate from Bemidji High School on Sunday June 3 at four o clock in the Bemidji State College Football Stadium. The program features the Concert Band with the processional and recessional and a piece Music for a Ceremony by John Morrissey. Beth Nelson gives the welcome Teresa Roholt the farewell. Dr Louis Wangberg will introduce platform guests. W F Bender awards the American Legion honors to top boy and girl. P L Tenney presents the class of 1973 to the board of education and William Schwartz awards diplomas. If rain forces a move the exercises will be held in the BSC Field House and announced on KBUN by 9 a m.

New ID rules require drivers license and selective service card for men and either license or non qualification certificate for women at city liquor outlets on Midway Drive and Highway 2 West.
Bemidji State College dedicated Hage-Sauer Hall this morning in a 10 am convocation. The $1.985 million building on Lake Bemidji houses 20 classrooms and a 500 seat auditorium. The dedication week honors Dr. Harold Hagg and Dr. Philip Sauer for 73 years of service.

A three member Bemidji City Council committee will meet at 7 30 p m in city hall to hear a grievance filed by the Bemidji Police Officers Federation president with City Atty Gene Ouradnik and council members Vic Berglund Herb Whiting and Mayor Todd Jansen in attendance. Representatives of the federation will be present.
U S meat prices rise across capitals. Sirloin steak costs 74 cents a pound in Buenos Aires and 82 cents in Brasilia, with general food costs edging higher in major cities including Washington. Agriculture Department Foreign Agricultural Service reports ongoing spring increases since March.
About 42 percent of school buses inspected by the Minnesota Highway Patrol fail. The new twice yearly inspections show improvement from last year’s 52 percent, with defects including exhaust pipes and mufflers, emergency doors, alarms, loose seats, missing first aid kits, lights, and brakes. Penalties and 15 day repair windows apply.
