Petersburg Indiana September 17 Owen Smith a Madison township farmer says wild pigeons appeared on his farm and then drove off in a line a quarter mile long and fifty feet wide He notes the birds were larger darker and without a white tail ring He has received letters asking the site of the Wigegtis.
Nashville Ind September 17 Young men gathered in an old barn to pass time with a card game when a large black snake crawled through a roof hole and fell among them. Cards flew, the game stopped.
A $45 damage case against Elmgi and Donald Smith was dismissed when neither attorney Mellen nor H C Whiting appeared in justice court. The suit stemmed from a J street accident where a Smith auto struck a stone that shattered a plate glass window of the Whiting building.
H A Surface the Pennsylvania state zoologist and inspectors report discovering and propagating a tiny hymenopteran parasite that attacks the San Jose scale. The parasite has cleared scale from orchards across Franklin to Delaware counties, restoring nurseries that were heavily infected last year.
Mrs Milton Adams and children Sarah and Milton Jr of Kansas City Mo have been guests of Mr and Mrs Parker Lary for a month and expect to return home Friday. John B Malott has started a foundation on South H Street for a modern eight room house for his occupancy. Mrs Milt Blackwell and her son Marry have gone to Hot Springs Arkansas where she has been suffering rheumatism.
Chattanooga veterans of N. B. Forest Camp, Confederate, were invited to join a mammoth parade with the Grand Army of the Republic but were left out as marshals moved the line. Beers of the G A R said he issued no order for Confederate participation. an officer acted without authority. Union soldiers criticized parade management as federal troops and Tennessee guards reenacted Missionary Ridge skirmishes.
Tony Fistus, candy maker at the Greek candy store, married Miss Leatha May daughter of Martin May of Kirksville last Thursday at the bride's parents home. Fistus, in America four years, worked for George Poolitsan over two years. They secured a license here earlier this week and established housekeeping at 509 North Washington Street.
James Monday of Williams was in the city Thursday. Mrs. John Wagoner of near Silverville is quite ill.
National League standings show Brooklyn Philadelphia Chicago St. Louis Cincinnati Pittsburgh and others with records at or near .500. American League and American Association leaders include Philadelphia Chicago Detroit Washington and Milwaukee. Western League results list Denver Sioux City Des Moines and Omaha games with scores and note weather or darkness conditions.

Jackson County coroner investigates a hunting accident that killed Roy Moffitt near Houston with companion Arthur Elkins. Inquest heard Elkins claimed the shot was accidental and from a distance, a blue shotgun shell evidence noted. Funeral held in Elkinsville with both families well known in Brown county.
William Chamberlain spent time in Michigan then arrived Tuesday as a guest of relatives. He accompanied his daughter Lois who has been visiting her grandparents Mr and Mrs H C Malott to their home in Topeka Kansas for an extended stay.
Mr and Mrs Donald G McLeod and daughter Marjorie Caroline arrived from Canada where they spent the summer. They will stay with Mrs McLeod's parents Dr and Mrs J T Freeland until their home on L street is ready for occupancy.
Mrs C E Franklin entertained Wednesday evening at her South M Street home in a 500 party honoring Mrs W H Heckman who departs next week for Medford Oregon. Three tables played with Mrs R C Cosner scoring high and receiving brass candlesticks while Mr Cosner won a deck of cards. Luncheon featured chicken croquettes salad cheese balls biscuits ice cream cake nuts and coffee.
Bertha Crutchfield aged three months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tiff Crutchfield of 1020 6th Street, died this morning at 10 o'clock from flux. Funeral services will be held at the residence Friday at 2 PM conducted by Rev T J Owens. Interment at Beech Grove.
A force of men is working to finish the third story of the new high school building. Last year the entire structure could not be completed but it will be finished in all respects in a short time.
Col. V. V. Williams reports that the party from here arrived on schedule for the National G A R encampment in Chattanooga. They were enjoying a fine time with a large crowd and more expected. Return home is planned for Saturday night or Sunday morning.
Mary Alice Mathis granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Louis Smith of M street is reported to be ill with scarlet fever in this notice.
