George Kessler was found guilty of murder in the second degree and sentenced to life imprisonment for the slaying of Minnie May Wilkin in Indianapolis last May. The jury returned the verdict after being out all night.

Mrs Tabitha Canfield aged 87 died Wednesday at the home of her son Frank Canfield in Oolitic after two years bedfast. Born near Aurora she lived in Mooreshill and was active in church and Fraternal Order’s work. Surviving sons are Elisha Canfield Batesville and Frank Canfield Oolitic. Funeral held at the Canfield home with Rev Calvin Bair. remains to Mooreshill for interment.

The Public Service Commission of Indiana schedules a 9 a m hearing on November 14 1919 at the Court House Bedford Indiana regarding Central Union Telephone company petition to raise rates at Bedford. A separate transit incident reports Conductor Charles Ellsworth briefly removing a tramp near Gosport and later rescuing him near Peerless. The tramp sustained a head injury after a fall aboard a freight car and is reported to have returned home.
Miss Emma Batman, daughter of Judge Ira C. Batman, announced her engagement to Maurice Riley of Bogalusa Louisiana at a Bloomington luncheon. The wedding is set for October 30 in Bloomington with a home in Bogalusa.
Celia Catherine Marks sues Ora Marks in Lawrence circuit court alleging marriage on June 10 1915 separation on July 18 1915 and desertion with failure to provide as required by law. The complaint requests a divorce and related relief.

Indianapo lis police arrest Vernia Worman and Ansel Graves in connection with forged payroll checks stolen from Stone Products Company of Oolitic. About 41 checks worth roughly 735 dollars were taken. several more remained uncashed. Worman, 18, and Graves, a former town marshal’s son, face questioning. Graves is held as a witness as officials pursue additional suspects.
Construction of the Public Service Co. transmission line toward Seymour is progressing, with crews reporting steady progress on key spans and right of way clearance. Project officials expect electrical service improvements to benefit the region once completed.

Three phase 3200 volt system will connect with hydraulic plant at Williams and feed utilities from Seymour to Indianapolis and Louisville.
