Aaron Davis, 63, was found guilty by a Martin Circuit Court jury in Shoals of attempted murder. The case stems from a 1 year dispute with Delbert Evans. A jug of water containing strychnine sickened Evans after a noon drink, leading to Davis’s arrest and detainment in the county jail.

Hugh Bass of West 17th street died Thursday at 5 30 pm from inflammation of the bowels after a two week fever. A Bedford machinist and Marion township native, he worked at Dugan's Cut Stone. Survived by a widow, he was 47 and Odd Fellows member. Funeral Saturday at 1 30 pm, Green Hill Cemetery, with services at 1 15 pm conducted by Rev. Melvin Putnam.
A car load of babies rode the B and O S W train from New York City bound for Alabama last night at 9 o clock. The special car, attached to the rear of the regular train, carried a man, his wife, and two nurses supervising children aged eighteen months to five years. The youngsters, from the New York Foundlings Home, will be placed in homes across Alabama, while passengers watched with interest.
The B and O S W railroad began hauling water through here on Wednesday night. A train carried a load from Medora to Nebraska and three cars went east again today ahead of No. 4. Two more cars were prepared to send to Medora for the same purpose. The water famine grows worse in many areas, though some locations report rain easing conditions. County Surveyor-elect Frank Gageby will keep his Linton residence after taking office January 1, and he could not confirm whether his term will be two or four years.

Joseph R. Voris cashier of Citizens National Bank of Bedford was elected President of the Indiana Bankers Association in Indianapolis. He succeeds I. C. Johnson of Seymour and is one of the state's youngest successful bankers.
Thomas Wadford, of Mitchell, files for divorce in Lawrence circuit court from Viola Wadford. He alleges she is profane and obscene, repeatedly uttering death wishes, and accuses her of petit larceny and bringing stolen goods to their home. He seeks custody of their daughter Mary Grace Wadford.
In Laporte Indiana on November 14 crowds pressed to enter the courtroom as jurors prepared and evidence would be introduced. Coroner Mack testified bones found at the Gunness home included a woman's and three childrens. Lamphere examined skulls and the defense objected to a verdict from the coroner's jury. A Democratic party meeting discussed the state platform and county option law with editors from several Indiana cities present and plans for a February association banquet and business meeting in this city.
Louis Ludlow writes in the Indianapolis Star that the Democratic State Editorial Association endorses replacing county local option with ward and township plans. Stokes Jackson, Democratic State chairman, asserts the people chose liquor reform by a 14 060 vote and urges enacting the popular verdict into statute.
In Indianapolis on November 13, district superintendents from five counties met at the Claypool building to plan campaigns against liquor traffic. Officials indicated local option elections may be pursued in several counties soon. Attending were George Hicks South Bend N C Shirey Ft Wayne O O Whitenack Terre Haute W C Shelt Evansville and E M Barney Indianapolis.
In Martin county circuit court Judge Houghton sentences William McCarty to 10 to 20 years for burglarizing Mrs. James Webster's Mountain Springs residence. Accomplice Herschel Baker confessed and will receive a suspended sentence. McCarty's attorney had urged insanity as a defense. Attorney J. L. Smith represented Baker.
The Board of Control for the new City Hospital met with the City Council to finalize permanent organization and review needs. Officers include Voris president Lary secretary and Harryman treasurer. A tag day to raise funds was planned for Bedford on December 5 with girls demanding 25 cents from passersby to cover the deficit.
William Watson a well known Odon resident and former Christian minister died Friday morning of a heart attack while en route to Elnora from his son Charles Watson’s home near Finora. He was about fifty, leaves a widow and two sons Charles of Elnora and William of Edwardsburg, and had recently conducted a meeting at Freedom in Spencer County.
A Bedford Baptist church meeting of school teachers discussed scientific temperance and approved sending a year's Crusader Monthly subscription to every public school teacher. The gesture, from the teachers union, aims to bolster temperance education. Mrs W A Brown received a carnation bouquet for her tireless Union leadership.
Monta Griffin aged 15 and Lucile Yeo 14 attempted suicide with carbolic acid in Bloomington after being told by parents they would be sent to the Girls Reform School for playing hockey. They drank the poison at Lucile Yeo’s home on Cottage Avenue as Dr. Turner rushed to their aid. Griffin was taken unconscious to her home on West Seventh Street.
Two men from Ohio visited Registrar John W. Cravens of Indiana University in Bloomington to propose selling their bodies for 50 dollars each and labeling them Property of Indiana University. They offered to have their remains turned over to the medical department for dissection and to be commissioned to procure bodies. Cravens explained state law bars body purchase and that unclaimed cadavers are available from hospitals, jails and farms. The men, aged about 20 and 25, said they were jobless and had traveled through multiple Indiana towns seeking work, claiming they faced starvation.
Jonathan Nicholson aged eighty one died Friday at New Albany from a paralytic stroke suffered after a prior paralysis. Survived by wife and four children Edward Hackett George Richard and John Nicholson of Bloomington origin, former Civil War veteran, member of Trinity Catholic Church. Funeral services set for Monday at 9 o'clock from Trinity program.
The aged and respected Aunt Sarah Watson of Guthrie died Friday night at her home aged 82. The funeral was held Sunday at 10 from her residence with Elder John Williams officiating. Interment will be at Hayes cemetery in Marshall township.
Cleveland dispatch notes The Iron Trade Review sees gradual ship of prosperity with renewed iron and steel market sentiment after the election. Railroads show growing interest, rail and Bessemer open hearth steel rails priced at 28 and 30 dollars for 1909 deliveries, and increased pig iron activity signals stronger activity ahead.
About 5900 farmers and their wives attend the National Grange convention at the White House. Chief Forester Pinchot delivers the day’s feature address as the President refrains from speaking. Also notes a home being built on West 12th Street for rental purposes and a birth announced nearby.
