Leland Woolers a Purdue University freshman from Blogmington drowned Monday afternoon in Lafayette while attempting to save two people from the flooded Wabash River. He is the son of Perry Woolery and has relatives in Bloomington.
The large wooden bridge project near Williams collapsed around two o clock Wednesday afternoon. A Williams telephone line plane reportedly went out Wednesday night, hindering contact and rescue efforts. The town faces rumors of broader flood impact across Indiana and Ohio as White River rises to record levels affecting creeks and streams.
Boats on the Rawlins bridge route faced rough water with high tides and swift currents delaying crossings. Ferry operators avoided risky transfers at the Chenault home side as conditions persisted, while residents and travelers still sought passage between Mast Oolitic and the city.
Reports from Bloomington indicate Gosport bridges sustained flood damage with water high over tracks. Despite several notices, exact extent remains uncertain as Monon line remains impacted by rising water.

Zollman lost two carloads of cattle and hogs. farmer Adam also lost cattle and hogs. Three quarters of the town flooded. residents camped in the schoolhouse and upper floors. No drownings reported.
Farmers southeast of the city reported Thursday that the Rivervale pike bridge might be washed out. Local officials could not verify the claim and doubts remain about its truth.
The White River near the Wallace Owen home on the Mitchell pike was at a stand at 3 p.m. Thursday after water halted around 2 p.m. and a second rise is expected.
Medora reports a river fall starting at 10 o clock after a 5 foot exceedance of the McKinley mark on Wednesday. By Thursday afternoon the water dropped from 1 foot to 18 inches with variations across town, and river men expect no second rise.

W. D. Dodson of Bloomington travels Thursday to Dayton Ohio with a canvas canoe. He plans to bridge water gaps on his journey and ride trains where possible. Dodson aims to reach Columbus Indiana and continue toward Dayton despite flood conditions risking his life.
A Bedford canvass of principal stores finds no danger of a food famine for ten days with exceptions for fancy groceries. Butter and eggs are in short supply but expected relief Friday. Vegetables and fruit will thin, but essentials remain abundant. Flour scare is over with plenty likely to last beyond ten days. Meat shops show beef for ten days and pork for two to three days. No famine risk, say informed sources.
Arrangements were made Wednesday night to run a Monon train from Louisville as far north as was safe. The train was to leave Louisville Thursday but rain covered the river bridge south of Bedford, delaying passage though the train could have reached this city.
