Mr Griffin of Indianapolis toured the area Wednesday seeking county directors to spark interest in a proposed Indianapolis to French Lick traction line via Bloomington. Local skepticism remains high and a franchise was not sought now though possible later.
In a notable habeas corpus case Judge Swails awarded custody of Perren Kerr's children to their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Ss. Holcombe, after completing the proceedings on Thursday.
Commencement exercises at St. Vincent de Paul School drew a large crowd in the assembly room on Wednesday evening. The program featured a Sacred Drama, vocal and instrumental solos, duets, a pole drill, and a marble of diplomas and certificates in penmanship with honors awarded to Anna Kestler, Marguerite Walsh, Mary Dausch, and others.
The Bedford Tennis Association forms with courts at 19th and Q streets. Charter members include local stars and promising players. Tryouts will be held for vacancies, with requests directed to President Lowell Boyd, 1411 M street. Members listed: Lowell Boyd, Bina Boyd, Ray Boruff, Jack Blackburn, Dr. Joseph Heiger, Dr. O. B. Norman, Clyde Jeyslen, James Avery, Ralph Foster, William McKinley, Brant Weaver, William Martin.
The concert band performs Thursday night June 1 at 7 30 under director W E Cannedy. Selections include Greeting to Friends Medley Overture Good Bye for Now Calanthe That Old Girl of Mine Egyptian Serenade Amina Golden Rod Adeline Doris Little Traveler and more.
Local employes of the Southeastern line completed the required examinations in the instruction car in the city. The men passed with flying colors. The car was moved to Seymour Thursday morning.
Among mourners were Bedford residents and state officials of the Christian Church Women’s Exchange Missionary group. Mrs. James Small of Columbus attended as guest. Miss Myra Owen, cousin of the deceased, also joined the gathering with the state board present.
Mrs Hugh Whiting and her guest Mrs Dora Livingstone of Chicago are visiting Mr and Mrs TI B Ades in Louisville.
Mr and Mrs Frank Spaulding and Mrs James Morris who were called from Bloomington by the death of the young child of Mr and Mrs Claude Spaulding have returned home. Miss Josephine Mitchell went to Chicago Thursday.

Will Wood son of John L Wood living east of the city shows continued improvement after a rifle accident caused by his brother. Progres sion of peritonitis conditions is reversing and the bullet's entry into the abdominal cavity and bladder is established. A possible future operation for removal remains a concern, but recovery is likely.
Coroner T IL Harris investigated the death of the seventeen day old infant of Richard Ditton found in bed at 4 a.m. in Mitchell. Attending physicians reported death due to organic heart trouble confirmed at the inquest.
A noon blaze in Oolitic destroyed a cottage owned by C. Terry and occupied by Albert Carter. The coal oil stove is believed to be the origin of the fire, and no one was at home when it started. All household goods were lost.
Mrs. T A Wylie of Bloomington dies Wednesday at over 100 years old. The notable centenarian resided in Bloomington and was mourned by family and community.
Mrs. Rebecca Dennis Wylie, born August 1812 in Philadelphia, died at age 100 on Hast 2d street. She celebrated her 100th birthday last Aug. 9 with family and Bloomington's community. the local band played the same tunes from 1838. The couple arrived in Bloomington after a long 1838 journey, helped found Indiana University, and lived at the 2d and Lincoln street home.
Mr and Mrs J S Bailey of Bedford and Mrs F C Hamilton of Green Castle visited Mr and Mrs Robert Bailey of East Harrison Street Tuesday. They traveled from Greencastle in the Hamilton car, with Mrs Hamilton returning home that evening. Bailey couple left for Bedford this morning. Martinsville Reporter notes Mrs Charles G Malott and son Lloyd went to Louisville Thursday to visit relatives. Mrs J W Newland, who attended Wells funeral, has returned home. Born to Mr and Mrs Bertolds on S Street Wednesday a daughter.
