Mis Owens mother of former auditor Walter Owens died Thursday at 3 45 am at her North M street home after years of illness. Elisabeth Colwell born last June 67 was married 44 years to Lucien Owens and they had son Walter in Indianapolis. Survived by husband and son sister and brother. Funeral Friday at 2 pm from the M and 7th street residence conducted by Rev Joan Williams. Interment Green Hill.

Alarm At McMillan Home Spurs Fire Call
Fire department responding to a Wednesday evening alarm at the McMillan residence on West Sixteenth Street found burning soot in the chimney. Fire crews did not extinguish a blaze and it soon burned out without further action.

Fine Fruit Farm Owner Plans Big Orchard Expansion
Julius Beaver of Martin county near the Lawrence county line west of Williams visited the city on Wednesday announcing a large expansion into fruit growing. He planted a thousand Alberta peach and Winesap apple trees last season and will plant several thousand Grimes Golden and Winesap trees this season. Harry Blackwell remains seriously ill at home on L street with a trained nurse from St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis assisting. Hartman suffered a cut above the teeth last Friday when he fell.

Henry Burton Crushed Leg While Clearing Land Near Bryantsville
Henry Burton a prominent farmer near Bryantsville suffered a badly crushed left leg when a rolling log pinned him during land clearing. He fell while toying with the log and was trapped under the timber, breaking the leg above the ankle.
