The Loyal Order of Moose buys Isis Day property at corner of 76th and H streets for 7750 to be remodeled. Stone Club lease ends. possession between September 1 and 10 with extensive renovations planned to create top notch lodge and club rooms.
The Farmers Co operative Insurance Association of Lawrence Monroe and Jackson Counties held its annual meeting and election. All officers from last year were re elected. The rate for tin wear is 14 cents per hundred. Officers listed include Hi B Woodward president C OW Wilkine director J Fish director A W Sergeant director J OW G Johnson director Elijah McKnight secretary and treasurer.
Relatives and friends gathered on North Street Wednesday to surprise Mrs P B Smith for her 22d birthday. The afternoon included post cards, a sumptuous dinner, and many presents. Attendees included Mr and Mrs P J Smith and children, Mr and Mrs Frank Hill and grandson Leland Corbin, Mr and Mrs McClure Smith, Mr and Mrs Fred Ashier and son Roy, Mr and Mrs Arthur Turner, John and Bessie Woolfinger.
Mr and Mrs J A Stipp and son Raymond join Mr and Mrs FE Crowe and son Barney for a ten day 2200 mile voyage leaving Chicago. They will sail across Lake Michigan Lake Superior and Lake Huron touching multiple ports along the route.

Lightning struck Rosecrans Jones's barn four miles northeast of Springville Wednesday at 7 30 p m destroying grain stock and machinery. Two fine horses, one suckling mule and two calves perished in the flames. The barn stored grain and a new binder were lost. Insurance totaled 400 dollars. total loss exceeds 1200 dollars.
A bolt of lightning struck the chimney at Allen Cameron’s West 10th Street house at 6 15 PM on Wednesday causing severe damage to the brick chimney and loft. The family and guests were dining in a detached summer house and none were injured. Flue parts blown out and rooms filled with soot, but the house did not ignite.

William Haws, east of the city, who was badly crushed by a tree days ago and in extremely serious condition, showed slight improvement Thursday.
Charles Hartley’s laundry in Lebanon burned to the ground Wednesday night after a nearby livery barn caught fire first. Joseph Glover reported a long distance call from his brother in law Oscar Hartley about the blaze. Hartley’s loss is expected to be covered by insurance.

In Linton a 107 year old named Joseph Fisher travels with his 69-year-old daughter and 54-year-old son toward Bedford while reflecting on a long life. Born in 1808 in Indiana, he is noted as one of the oldest men and a lifelong Democrat who voted for Andrew Jackson. He attributes longevity to good health, stoutness, and self care, denying any extraordinary circumstance. The family plans to settle back in Bedford after a stay in Southern Illinois.
Mitchell Tribune notes Bedford Indiana faces heavy debt from mismanaged waterworks after nearly four years of administration. The paper predicts residents will vote for change this November.
