Bedford Couple Link Heard In Bloomingtion Hotel Stay
A Bedford girl told Prosecutor John Underwood that she and Joe J McBride stayed at the Bowles hotel in Bloomington under an assumed name from Saturday night to Sunday morning. McBride, released on parole from the Jeffersonville reformatory last December, was later arrested in Mitchell on suspicion of involvement in a safe burglary at Reed & Co meat market. He pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon, paid 35 dollars, and was briefly jailed before release after parole officer Burnette and the prosecutor reviewed the alibi story and hotel records. The case hinges on whether a Bloomington alibi can clear him of the alleged robbery and prevent his return to the reformatory.

Mrs Elgin Bruce wife of Elgin Bruce died at City Hospital Thursday at 3 o clock after a typhoid illness. She was taken to the hospital on Man street. She is survived by her husband and one child.

Daughters and Delta: Fatal Tree Collapse and Typhoid Deaths
William Haws, 40, eight miles east of the city, was fatally injured Thursday while helping to fell a large black oak for a road when the trunk fell back onto him. He was trapped, extricated, and died at his home. Lola Reynolds, seven, of Oolitic, died of typhoid fever at home this forenoon after a three week illness. Funeral plans are pending.

Accident at deadly crossing east of Mitchell injures horses
A hay bailer owned by Richard Jruer and driven by Frank Chastain lay on Hamers Crossing when B and M fast passenger train No 4 could not stop. The engineer failed to halt the train and the pilot was torn from the engine amid the wreck. The bailer was destroyed and a piece carried along the track. A bolt on a rail halted the bailer. The site has seen prior fatalities including a threshing machine and a Black farmer. Eight people have died at the crossing since the road was built.
