Linton Indiana August 27 One of the largest single owner cornfields in Indiana lies two miles south of Linton. The goose Pond farm spans about three miles by one and a half and was a pond until extensive drainage and levee work. The Ogle family owns the property and plans to add hundreds of acres and a second pumping station with three pumps capable of 20 000 gallons a minute.
Miss Mary Reed age 19 and Clifford Dean eloped to St. Louis Missouri and were married Wednesday evening 7 30 o clock in the groom s home city. The ceremony followed a surprise to both families and friends with the bride informing her parents by phone after the vows. The bride is the youngest Reed daughter from West 16th street and a popular social figure. The groom recently moved from St Louis and works in Giberson company s office.
Mr and Mrs Donald G McLeod plan to return from a summer in Canada and reside in their property on L street in Bedford by mid September.

He oversees boiler work at the large facility which employs four thousand and turns out two locomotives daily. His wife and daughter join him at Dunkirk while his sons visit Lafayette. He enjoys the new duties and remains fond of Lafayette and its people.
Mrs B M Weaver and Mrs Maurice McGrath have been visiting on the former's father's Colorado ranch and are now with Mrs Weaver's parents in St Louis. They were expected to return home Wednesday night.

Mrs A K Sears gave a prettily appointed dinner party at her South S street home Thursday to compliment Mrs Edward Snyder and daughters Eulalie and Audrey of Sullivan. Fifteen covers were set. Guests included Dr and Mrs E E Mitchell Mr and Mrs Vohen Baker Mr and Mrs Herschel Bennett Mrs Mary Bennett and boys George Baker and David Ambrose Nicholson.
Misses Mayme and Edna Harris, from New Philadelphia Ohio, were surprised Wednesday evening in the city by 22 friends at Mrs Charles Smiths home. The event featured outdoor games and refreshments of ice cream and nabiscoes. The Harris sisters received beautiful gifts from their friends. Out of town guests included Miss Edna Kasting of Seymour and Mrs Charles Harris of New Philadelphia.
Miss Florence Hudson hosted a primary Bible class party with Miss Callie Hulse on Wednesday afternoon. Children enjoyed games cake ice cream and fruit then left in high spirits. Attendees included Lois and Frances Duncan Blanche Lois Merlie Ruth Davis Frances Elrod Hazel Guthrie John and William Blankenship Elsie Luda Cassada Rosa Graham Gladys Marie Hudson Amund and Alice McCracken.
Miss Harriett Farmer hosted a Wednesday evening fudge party at her West 14th street residence. The highlight was a playful mock wedding ceremony in which all guests participated, with Katharine Stoessel Florence Dye Helen Martin Stephenia Strout and men Tom Huffines Lee Keithley George Graves George Jackson and Roy Day in attendance.
A Seymour Democrat note from a grocers trade paper reports Tuesday drought wrecking sweet corn tomato and cabbage crops and canned goods rising 15 to 25 percent. Wednesday heavy rains worsen crops and push canned goods up 20 to 30 percent.
