Indianapolis August 12 Judge Eichhorn sustained forty three of the forty eight counts in the conspiracy indictment against Thomas Taggart Mayor Bell and hundreds of others It was decided to try Bell first though defense wanted Taggart first Mayor Bells trial set for September 7 All defendants pleaded not guilty except seven who had already pleaded guilty

The Royal Neighbors of America local camp No 3213 invites members to the District picnic at West Baden on Wednesday August 18. Twenty five Supreme officers will attend including Mrs Fannie B Volts of Indianapolis. Thirty five camps will be represented with baskets for a grand picnic dinner. Supper will be served free at the West Baden hotel. Attendees plan to travel by Monon trains both ways for the day event.

Stanley Covey 21 a married quarry worker in East Oolitic ended his life Thursday at his mother's home in West Oolitic by shooting himself with a shotgun while his wife was away collecting blackberries. James Howard known medicine man and Mrs Harley Darrah faced charges after a Springville case in which Mrs Anna Robinson reported her purse stolen from her as her son claimed $9 was taken from the pocketbook while four bottles of medicine were left on a table. Howard denied guilt and returned the money. police located medicine supplies and he was arrested but after return no further prosecution. The other tragedy reports Mrs Harley Darrah shot at Akron home with the killer a Cleveland girl. she died after three hours at 5 30 pm two weeks ago Monday. details describe a porch scene and a loaded chamber misfire.
Washington August 12 President Wilson arrived in the capital and it was announced that the regular Friday Cabinet meeting had been canceled to give the president additional time to prepare Mexican policy.
Washington notes deny any link between the Atlantic fleet voyage and the Mexican situation. The Navy states the entire fleet will leave Newport for a southern waters cruise as a customary season leave.
Four men were killed and fifty injured when a freight train crashed into the rear of a Knights of Pythias excursion train near Columbus after a blinding rainstorm. The collision occurred as the Cedar Point bound train traveled toward Columbus, Ohio, sending survivors to area hospitals.
Local residents are asked to sign a petition seeking a local option election. If enough signatures are gathered the Board of County Commissioners may consider the petition at its first September meeting. The election would be held between twenty and thirty days after the board meeting if approved.

A three room dwelling owned by W B Wicker and occupied by Mrs Alice Scott was destroyed by fire early Thursday. The blaze was not spotted until flames filled the house with Mrs Scott barely escaping. Household goods were lost though insured. the dwelling itself had no insurance. The incident also mentions Joe Ketchem and Stephen Doyle receiving penalties in police court for intoxication and related penalties.
Miss Bernice Tabor of the Bryantsville neighborhood was in the city Wednesday enroute to Seymour to spend a few weeks with relatives and friends. Miss Mary Burkhart is here from Harrodsburg visiting Mrs. Isis Tankesley.

Papers in the suit of Florence Rush against Charles Watson George Wilson Hiram Lamb A McDonald and Ira Cook for $500 damages have been received by County Clerk Jackson. The complaint says the defendants owned a thrashing outfit and that 15 year old Alvin Wilson was sent with a wagon for water. A faulty brake caused the team to run away on a hill and injure him.
Edgar Jewell Malott aged 24 and Ada Harp both of the vicinity were married Wednesday afternoon at 8 30 o clock in the office of Justice Ralph B Malott who officiated. The couple intend a prosperous life of farming near the city with many local well wishes.
