Commencement Exercises Held At Local School
Rev R K Youngdahl of Marshalltown delivered the commencement address to twenty four graduates who finished the year with perfect attendance. The class received diplomas from Supt R R Watson and board president J H Godfrey. Music by the high school chorus and quartet accompanied the ceremony. Funeral services for E J Hughes who died at Brown hospital Clarinda Saturday May 11 were held Tuesday afternoon at the family residence conducted by Rev C K Shackleford of the Baptist church Burial was in the Memory cemetery Elder Jackson Hughes was the son of Nancy Harriett and Jesse Hughes born in Page county near New Market Feb 13 1868 He married Eva Rosetta Weaver in 1889 and except for five years lived on their farm near New Market He was a Baptist church member and lived a Christian life His death shocked family and community He is survived by his wife two children Carl Hughes and Mrs Vera Zimmerman two grandchildren Kyle Hughes and Rosetta Zimmerman a brother Mark Hughes Fowler Colo a sister Mrs Hattie Hargis New Market a niece and nephew Mrs George Field and Claude Wessels of California who had lived in the Hughes home since childhood

Funeral services for Leon Burright in New Market
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Methodist church in New Market for Leon Burright who died May 12 at the Veterans hospital in Helena after a twelve day illness. Burial followed in Clarinda cemetery. Burright, a Vida, Montana resident, was a World War II veteran with the 212th trench mortar company. He is survived by his wife and three children, his mother in New Market, six sisters, and four brothers.
