Johnson Nixon and Ray remarried on a Saturday in Maryville Missouri. They plan a month long motor trip then will reside in the western states. Several local notices follow including accidents, obituaries, and social events across New Market and Clarinda with names like Hughes, Vera Zimmer, Dorothy Abbott, Lorraine Orme, Regina Sarchette, and Kenneth Hawkins.

The Junior Normal Training girls and their teacher Migs Trowbridge visited Frog Valley school Thursday for teaching observations. High school pupils with their faculty enjoyed an annual picnic at Porter's Lake in Shenandoah Wednesday. Baccalaureate services were held Sunday evening in the school building with Rev. William McClurg of Des Moines delivering the address. Music featured the senior girls sextette, the high school mixed chorus, and a solo by Donna Foster.
Chas T McLaughlin, 67, died in St Joseph on Sunday May 5. Funeral services were held at his home Wednesday May 8 officiated by Rev C C Pritchard. Survived by wife Ida Ostrander formerly of Blockton and sister Lora Black of Kansas City. Eight grade exercises held at Christian church with 21 diplomas presented by high school superintendent R T Kirby. students then took part in races and games.
Mrs. Walters, 94, died Wednesday at her daughter Mrs. Enoch Wolsey’s home. Funeral services were held Friday at the Methodist church in Parnell with burial in Parnell Cemetery. A series of visits and family gatherings followed, including Maynard Caldwell and Elias Ames households, and Elizabeth McLaughlin of Maryville attended C. T. McLaughlin’s funeral.
Mrs R H Jarvis and Mrs Nellie Lewis of Bedford joined Miss Mae Bowen and her father Hugh Bowen for a Sunday dinner. Other visitors included Parnell neighbors and relatives from Corning Iowa Creston Iowa Maitland Blockton Hopkins and Clarinda who attended the C T McLaughlin funeral Wednesday.
The Christian social group met Wednesday at noon with Miss Helen Wake of Sheridan assisting host Miss Carl Johnson to Grant City. The ceremony was read by Miss Etta Belle Chapman. Sew and social club met Thursday at Mrs Roger McAlister’s. Dinner hosted by Mr and Mrs G F Stingley included guests Beryl Stingley from Oklahoma City, Dorothy Reeves of Springfield, and Vivian Stingley of Chicago.
