Gravity A Picnic And Local Socials Highlight Week

A Gravity area notes several gatherings including a Sunday picnic at the Lake of Three Fires honoring Mrs. Chas O Beirn and family members from Denver and Glenwood. The Sunshine Club met with Miss Orra Masker. a birthday party honored Joan Ledgerwood with gifts and games. Local moves include F C Dorsey taking a summer course in Ames, Zora Ecklin visiting from Glenwood, and many residents visiting relatives or attending summer schools in Boulder Aurora and other towns.

Editor J. S. Francis Attends Masonic Grand Lodge in Waterloo

Editor J. S. Francis attended the Masonic Grand Lodge at Waterloo last week and returned home Thursday evening. Visitors include Mr. and Mrs. Scott Cramer of Chicago and relatives of Editor and Mrs. Francis. Mrs. Chas. O’Beirn sold property to Fred Joslyn amid local visits from O’Beirn family and Donald of Ottawa Illinois. E. I. Wilson and Lester Parks back from Excelsior Springs Missouri. Mrs. Marion Wright resumes home in Glenwood after a two week visit with her parents.

Conway Church Reports Epworth League Institute Delegates

The three Epworth League delegates Cecil New kirk Helen Straight and Grace Harris will report on the Epworth League Institute held at Andianola during Sunday morning service. A Father’s Day pot luck dinner was held at the Osmond home with Mary Chilcote Clarence Chilcote and other relatives attending. Locals note visits and meals including Orville Gold and Clifford Short at Gravity and with Mrs Matilda Short.

Mrs. Hattie Straight and Marian and Helen returned from Des Moines via Indianola with delegates to the League Conference. Marian and Helen visited relatives in Bedford Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Matheny and daughter Dale hosted dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moore. Ernest Sharp and family stopped by in the afternoon. Mrs. Will Shum will stay in Sharpsburg for a week. Eva Donaldson cares for Mrs. Burrows during her absence.

Mrs. Dave Long and Mrs. H B Parrish hosted the Pythian Sisters while Mrs G E Bellus entertained Nell Rose and Nu Deal clubs. The American Legion Auxiliary held a picnic dinner at Mrs Lydia King home with attendees listed including Mrs Paul Parrish and several others from Blockton and nearby Cedar Rapids visitors. Jane remained after a visit. Mabel Smith left for Chicago to attend Northwestern University summer school.

Local Lodge Members Attend District Convention in Bedford

Rebe ahh Lodge members travel to Bedford for a district convention. Blockton lodge supplied the music. Various residents, including Miss Yvonne Menelaus and Miss Ferne Warrior, visit Des Moines Gravity Ames and Omaha while others, such as Virginia Dowlin, teach and rest at home. Children’s Day services were held at both the Methodist and Christian churches.

Hazel Dell Attends Cattle Sale and Homecoming Gatherings

Elmer Beauchamp and sons with Chas Buzzard attended the Charles Bellow Shorthorn cattle sale in Maryville on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hopple and John visited Council Bluffs on Thursday where John found employment. Mrs. F A Barnes spent days at the Francis Beck home near Bedford aiding Mrs. Beck who is very ill. E H Beauchamp and Dwight Hopple families attended the Unity homecoming Sunday.
