Power crisis looms as Baytown endures heat check
Baytown faces record heat with 98 degree temperatures and a heat index of 108 as a water shortage worsens power failures. A Baytown Water Authority fire and a Coastal Water Authority outage drained supplies while residents conserve water. City Manager Gary Jackson said voluntary conservation should end today if no new failures occur and water remains drinkable. CenterPoint crews continue to restore power with an unclear timeline as residents brace for ongoing outages.
