Columbine survivor Craig Scott fuels kindness drive at Ross Sterling

Craig Scott promoted Rachel's Challenge to curb violence by encouraging small acts of kindness after his sister Rachel was killed at Columbine. At Ross Sterling High School more than 200 students joined the Friends of Rachel club under Principal Trey Kraemer and teachers guiding the effort. Goodman murder investigation continues

The reward for information in the murder of Baytown man Barney Ross Goodman has risen to 6000 dollars. His brother Richard Ford said a Temple veteran offered to add 1000 dollars to the 5000 dollar family reward. Goodman, 57, had recently lost both legs to diabetes and was kidnapped Friday after driving to cash his 1800 dollar veterans check. He was beaten and dumped from a Liberty County bridge over the San Jacinto River near Splendora.

El Hawa Pleads Guilty In Fake Flu Shot Scheme

Iyad Abu El Hawa a 36 year old Israeli national of Palestinian descent pleaded guilty to health care fraud and drug misbranding in a Houston federal court. He admitted to involvement in last year's fake flu shot scam at the Exxon Mobil Baytown complex and agreed to testify in a co defendant's trial. Sentencing set for December 4 with potential prison terms and fines, plus a possible downward adjustment for full cooperation.

United Way kicks off 60th year of fundraising in Baytown

Early Wednesday at San Jacinto Mall, 120 people attended the United Way of Baytown Area kickoff breakfast marking the 60th fundraiser. The event launches a campaign running through Nov 17 with a goal of 1.9 million, shy of last year’s 2 million. Kris Barty notes many supporters traveled from Louisiana to assist.
