Baytown Lineman 35 Electrocuted On Pole At High School
Baytown lineman W. R. Jasmine, 35, of Baytown, was killed by 7,200 volts at Robert E. Lee High School when a routine repair on a faulty high voltage switch went wrong. Gulf Coast Electric Co. supervisor Bill Miller said Jasmine was changing a switch and may have contacted a live wire. Ground man Frank Janea reported seeing sparks from Jasmine’s leg. Houston Light and Power Co. linemen Billy Sanders and J. T. Yarborough helped release him about 20 minutes later. Police and fire crews responded. Jasmine left work at 1:30 p.m. for REL. He had worked three years for Gulf Coast Electrical and was a Fort Worth native living in Fort Worth. He is survived by his mother, Effie Jasmine of Fort Worth, and a 14-year-old son. Paul A. Lee Funeral Homes will announce arrangements.
